I was at the Orchard Road in Singapore to see a crowd at a corner across the street. Under the very bright sunny sky, a lot of people were gathering around the Knightsbridge, a well-known shopping center franchise from England such as Nordstrom and Harrods. Was that a flash mob show? Because it would be great if it was, and I have been waiting forever to see a real flash mob show before my eyes.
But noooooo….., it was not a flash mob show! It was much, much better than a show! The Knightsbridge’s corner was surrounded by a lined up half-naked male models!
What happened was the pre-opening of the new Abercrombie & Fitch store. Abercrombie & Fitch has been a notorious clothing brand known for its casual and youthful signature styles. The brand campaigns have also been a trademark too, by always bringing up attractive boys-next-door typical models. The word ‘Abercrombie’ itself often used to substitute ‘cute’ as in cute boys in the states.
I was so lucky to be a part of the opening. It was a real mass, with girls and –yes– boys were taking pictures with the models. I supposed I saw some TV reporters too. I guessed it was a kind of ‘phenomenon’ then. What a sweet holiday treat!
Finally, there was one thing I kept regretting along the way after spotting them –> I didn’t wear my high heels!! Damn, I felt so dim-witted all day long because while there were UP Shoes wedges in my hotel room, I decided to go flat that day! Worst decision ever for a once in a lifetime chance!!
A valued lesson to myself: always go everywhere in high heels!
